White Heather Pipe Band

white heather

The White Heather is a new youth pipe band in Moose Jaw.  The name is derived from two former successful Moose Jaw pipe bands, the White Hackle and the Sprigs O’ Heather. The pipe band program is for beginning piping and drumming students interested in learning how to play these instruments. The focus is on fun, friendship and musical development.  A Scottish background is not required.

The long-term plan is to have a youth pipe band that can perform at special local events and compete at various highland games.

If you want to learn bagpipes or drums from excellent instructors and you live in the Moose Jaw area this is the place for you!  New students are welcome throughout the year, and we encourage you to come down and visit to see if this passion is for you.

The band director is Michelle Carline. Michelle grew up playing in the Springs O’ Heather Pipe Band and has gone on to play with top bands in Western Canada, including competing at the World Pipe Band Championships with one of Canada’s elite pipe bands. Michelle has been a prize-winning solo competitor, and has many years of teaching experience in local school divisions. She will be assisted by other local pipers and drummers with excellent music and community credentials.
