New Drum Scores For All Massed Bands
Following extensive discussion across North American pipe band associations, it has been decided to write a new set of snare, tenor and bass scores for massed bands.
The current "standard scores" used in most places were composed for Ontario Grade 1 and 2 bands in the 1970s for the CNE Tattoo, and for years have been found too difficult for many players, especially new learners in developing and lower grade bands. The new scores are designed to be musical, while at the same time being within the skill range of the majority of drummers at any event. This will enable more players to enjoy and play the scores, and will make for a better sounding massed band.
